From one image to a usable 3D model

KO-DIT · Updated October 3, 2026

Choose a source image, select quality, inspect hidden surfaces, align the model and save a GLB in ropal3d.

1. Make the shape easy to read

A single image cannot show every surface. ropal3d estimates unseen parts and does not replace measurement or an engineering drawing. Start with one simple object whose full silhouette is visible.

  • Prefer one subject, a simple background and lighting that separates its parts.
  • Rework cropped objects, overlapping subjects, dark silhouettes or subjects that occupy very little of the image.
  • Inspect glass, mirrors and very thin structures especially carefully; their boundaries may be hard to infer.
  • Upload PNG, JPG or WEBP files up to 10 MB. Confirm you have the rights needed to upload and transform the image.

2. Choose quality for the question you are answering

Sign in with Google, upload an image, name the model and choose quality. Fast generation uses settings of up to 15,000 faces and 512px textures; detailed generation uses up to 50,000 faces and 1024px textures. These are not guarantees of accuracy or processing time. Try fast generation to inspect the overall shape before considering a detailed run.

3. Look beyond the front view

Rotate and zoom to inspect the sides, back and underside. Unseen surfaces may differ from the original object. Attractive color can hide a distorted shape, so use wireframe view as well.

  • Silhouette: are separate parts incorrectly joined?
  • Hidden surfaces: is the back or underside missing or too flat?
  • Surface: has lighting or background become part of the texture?
  • Use: list any edits needed for a game prop, background asset or practice project.

4. Save the original and adjusted versions deliberately

Check automatic floor alignment, then adjust the X, Y and Z rotation if needed. The adjusted GLB includes those changes; the original GLB preserves the initial result. A PNG snapshot is a flat image, not an editable model. Open the GLB in a compatible editor and review scale, orientation, materials and face count.

5. Plan storage and your next attempt

Fast and detailed runs each use one generation. A Google account can request up to 10 in a rolling 24-hour period; each used slot becomes available 24 hours after that generation, rather than all resetting at midnight. Check the studio retention notice and download important models in advance. When using an image from another service, review both its conditions and the model’s applicable licenses.
